• Western Maricopa Education Center (West-MEC) acknowledges that the institution signed and returned to the Department of Education the Certification and Agreement for the use of Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students. 

    West-MEC has received $12,950 from the Department of Education, pursuant to the institution’s Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grant to students.   West-MEC intends to use 100% of the student portion funds to support students.

    Students enrolled in the Aviation Maintenance Technology and Welding Technology programs that have a valid 2020-2021 Pell eligible Institutional Student Information Record (ISIR) will be considered, awarded and disbursed funds until funds are depleted. As of today, we estimate that twenty-four students meet these criteria. One-time awards will begin at $700 for $0 Expected Family Contribution (EFC) and will decrease by $10 as the EFC increases in $100 increments until the $12,950 funds are depleted. 

    The CARES Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund has also provided West-MEC funding to cover institutional costs associated with significant changes to the delivery of instruction due to COVID-19.  West-MEC was allotted $12,950 for institutional expenses by the Department of Education.
