The Medical Laboratory Science program introduces students to careers in the healthcare field. This program will provide students with knowledge and experience of working in a medical laboratory setting. Students will obtain skills in laboratory biological safety measures, phlebotomy procedures, laboratory aseptic technique, specimen collection procedures, laboratory documentation, ethics in the workplace, as well as patient care.
Furthermore, through mock interviews and resume-building workshops, learners are trained for the job-seeking process. During the program, accommodations and modifications are provided to high school students based on the IEP/504.
After completion of the one-year program, successful candidates will be prepared to seek one or more certifications, like OSHA 10 Healthcare, and Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT).
