Hard of Hearing West-MEC Nursing Student Earns Full-Ride Scholarship to ASU
Juliana Trevino Ramirez has mild to moderate hearing loss in both ears and is hard of hearing. She lives with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss, which she has dealt with since birth. Now, when she graduates from Bourgade Catholic High School and completes the Nursing Services program at West-MEC this spring, she will head off to ASU on a full-ride scholarship.

 West-MEC's water systems program has been around for three years, growing from 12 students to 50. It is the only high school course of its kind in the state.

More than 3,340 students are attending classes on-site across West-MEC's six campuses in Buckeye, Avondale, Glendale, Phoenix, Surprise and the district's newest Southeast Campus near Loop 101 and Thomas Road. Beyond its campuses,

West-MEC extends career and technical education opportunities to more than 48,000 students through satellite programs offered at partner high schools in Maricopa County.

Largest public school districts recently announced bans on AI, but here in Arizona, a public career and technical education District has launched a new AI program for its students.

West-MEC's, new Southeast campus. This is offering the two-year program to high school students. Students will gain skills in programming, machine learning and data science and explore the ethical and societal impacts of emerging technologies.
