EMERGENCY ROOM TECHNOLOGY
EMERGENCY ROOM TECHNOLOGY
The Emergency Room Technology program equips students with the knowledge and clinical skills needed to support healthcare teams in hospital emergency departments. The program emphasizes medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, patient assessment, vital sign measurement, infection control, basic pharmacology, and emergency care procedures commonly encountered in the ER. Students also practice hands-on skills such as CPR, wound care, splinting, and assisting with trauma and medical emergencies in simulated clinical settings. Professional expectations, including communication, teamwork, stress management, and ethical decision-making, are integrated throughout the program. Students are ready to pursue careers in fast-paced hospital environments.
CAREER PATHWAYS
Completion of the Emergency Room Technology program prepares students to begin careers as emergency room technicians, patient care technicians, or unit clerks in hospital and urgent care settings. This program also builds a strong foundation for students to advance into nursing, para-medicine, radiology, respiratory therapy, or other allied health professions through additional post-secondary education and training. Skills gained in the program- such as patient monitoring, basic emergency procedures, and professional communication- transfer directly into broader healthcare careers, creating multiple entry points into high-demand roles in emergency medicine and clinical support.
