ELECTRICAL TRADE SPECIALITY
The Electrical Trade Specialty program introduces students to the basic elements electrical systems. Students will have the opportunity to analyze construction drawings, perform maintenance on electrical circuits, work with control systems, install lighting, and motors. It is a great step in electrician training.
Apart from the core curriculum, learners are trained for the job-seeking process through mock interviews and resume building workshops. During the program, accommodations and modifications are provided to high school students based on the IEP/504.
After completion of the one-year program, successful candidates will be prepared to seek one or more certifications like the OSHA- 10 General. Moreover, West-MEC offers industry credential tests at no additional cost. Through this Electrician Training program and certification, students are provided a pathway to economic independence.
CAREER PATHWAYS
Careers that a student could pursue after receiving their certification(s) are: Electrical apprentice, apprentice electrician, electrician helper, electrician*, journeyman electrician* The knowledge obtained in this program will help the students begin their career as apprentices and later take the tests for advanced certifications.
