AESTHETICS
The Aesthetics program specializes in the study of skincare and provides in-depth instruction on a variety of skin care services. The curriculum will include facials, skin analysis, pore cleansing, skincare regimens, waxing, eyebrow shaping, lash tinting, and aromatherapy techniques.
During the course, industry certified instructors will guide the students with relevant practical training. In addition, program participants are trained for the job-seeking process through mock interviews, resume building workshops and workplace visits.
After the one-year program is completed, successful candidates will be prepared to seek the AZ Board of Cosmetology License in Aesthetics. Moreover, West-MEC offers industry credential tests at no additional cost. In fact, the Eyelash Extension Certification is included in the student registration fee. Through the Aesthetics program, students are provided a pathway to economic independence.
CAREER PATHWAYS
Careers that a student could pursue after receiving their license are: Aesthetician/Esthetician, skincare specialist, make-up artist, cosmetic sales or product representative.
The work environment is often a spa. Other places include salons, resorts and dermatologist or plastic surgeon offices. Certified Aestheticians are expected to pay attention to detail and interact with clients to help them understand procedures and make them feel at ease. Self-employment is a viable option in this field.
