Career Technical Education (CTE) is a positive learning experience for all types of learners. Research indicates that students who complete a coherent sequence of classes are more likely to graduate on time and to persist into post-secondary education. Data also shows that CTE completers have increased state testing scores and are less likely to drop out of high school.
West-MEC proudly implements a high-quality career technical education framework that improves student achievement through classroom instruction, hands-on learning, work-based experiences, and leadership development. CTE programs create a learning environment for students where the learning is rigorous and as well as relevant to their future goals.
One of West-MEC's core values is that ALL students can learn. We are strongly invested in their personal, academic, and professional growth and therefore have a robust Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS). Our MTSS model has a proactive approach to supporting student learning, and includes progress monitoring and implementation of intervention strategies should a student encounter barriers to their progress at West-MEC.
West-MEC MTSS Framework
Purpose:
The West-MEC Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework ensures every student has access to high-quality instruction, interventions, and supports to succeed academically, behaviorally, and socially. Our goal is to create a data-driven, collaborative system where all students thrive in a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Environment.
Principles:
Student-Centered: Decisions are made with the student's academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs at the center.
Collaborative Approach: Teachers, Counselors, ESS Teacher Liaisons, Administrators, and Families share responsibility for student success.
Access: Every student is provided with equitable opportunities and supports, reducing barriers to success.
Data-Informed Decisions: Instructional and intervention decisions are guided by consistent use of data from multiple sources.
Tiered Supports: A structured approach that increases intensity of support as student needs increase.
