What is Canvas?

Canvas is the Learning Management System (LMS) used by West-MEC. It gives teachers a central place to share assignments, course content, and updates with students. How much Canvas is used day to day can vary by school and grade level. Canvas includes tools for class discussions and announcements, a variety of assignment and content formats, integration with external apps and resources, and access from computers, tablets, and phones. Students can connect with digital resources, collaborate with classmates, and track a running course grade based on work submitted and scored in Canvas.

Access for Parents

Parents can log in to Canvas as an observer to view their student's assignments and course activity. Observers see most of the same content that students do. Observers can also view the instructions teachers attach to assignments. To set up an observer account, follow these steps.

A Note on Grades

The grade shown in Canvas is for reference only. West-MEC's official grade record is maintained in FOCUS.
