West-MEC Application Rubric Process
High School Counselor Rubric Process
Student applicants will submit a printed Application Verification Form (AVF) to their high school counselor, who will then score the rubric using the following criteria.
The rubric score (70 points possible) is calculated based upon:
- Attendance/Tardies - up to 20 points
- Discipline - up to 10 points
- Grade Point Average - up to 20 points
- Career Choice - up to 10 points
- Student Self-Evaluation Score (from the student application) - up to 10 points
Applicants who have a rubric score below 42 or do not meet specific program requirements will NOT be considered in the priority allocation. Counselors will work with their students to complete a Student Success Action Plan. The student's application may be considered at the end of semester 2 in which they applied.
West-MEC evaluates applicants using first-choice program requirements and a rubric to make the selection process fair and equitable.
Homeschool Rubric Process
As a homeschool family completes the application, an adult who knows the applicant well will score the homeschool rubric.
The rubric score (70 points possible) is calculated based upon:
Applicants who have a rubric score below 42 or do not meet specific program requirements will NOT be considered in the priority allocation.
West-MEC evaluates applicants using first-choice program requirements and a rubric to make the selection process fair and equitable.
- Grade Point Average - up to 15 points
- Student Self-Evaluation Score (from the student application) - up to 10 points
- The successful West-MEC student should be evaluated on:
- Attendance/Punctuality - up to 10 points
- Leadership Qualities - up to 5 points
- Teamwork - up to 5 points
- Communication Skills - up to 5 points
- Respect For Others - up to 10 points
- High Interest in the Career Pathway - up to 10 points
